What is a 'splash page'? Look it up. Explain what they are and how they are used. Find an example of a splash page in Google Images. Save the image to you computer and then upload it to your blog post.

A splash page is an image that appears while a game or program is loading. It is the page of the website the user sees first before entering into the main content of the website. These pages, usually used by large applications, notify the user the the program is in the process of loading. Splash pages enhance the look or feel of a website and are usually visually appealing.

What do you think about it? What is the teacher trying to say? In your own words explain what "the main event" is. Do you agree or disagree with the writer?

I think this teacher has a very good point, and he is very passionate about his teachings and helping students succeed in their education. He is trying to say that school isn't all about academics it's about learning how to deal with all the hardships that come with it. The "main idea" is that the more we take the easy way out, the more we are setting ourselves up to fail later on in life. I agree with this because if students don't take challenging classes, don't show up to class, or don't turn in assignments will fail when they get into the real world. This was a really interesting blog to read!

Status update! Tell me where you are at on your product website? Can you be finished by tomorrow at the end of the hour? Do you need more time? How much more time? Be honest and explain yourself.

I have about nine more pages to finish because I never got taught how to properly link them up. I taught myself how to link them, but that took almost a whole hour and I fell behind. I will not be able to finish by tomorrow and I'll probably need Wednesday to complete it.

Welcome back! How was your Spring Break? Tell me all about it. You've been out of school for 10 days so I know you will have plenty to share. Make it good!

Over Spring Break I went to Marco Island, Florida with my family. My grandparents live in a fancy condo in the gated community know as Hideaway Beach. Two days after we arrived, my cousin Emily came to join us. Together, we went to the beach, went swimming, took kayaks out, took a ride on the Marco Princess and went to fancy dinners. I stayed pretty pale, which is sad.
On the last day, My cousin Quinn came to visit and go to the pool with us. We took many golf cart rides and saw a lot of wild animals. I was really sad to leave and I can't wait to go back next Spring Break!

Do you like the layout of this project? Have you benefited from your brainstorming sheet? Was it more helpful or annoying when starting to map out your website? Explain why.

I do like the layout of this project. I really helped to map out my website because then I could just transfer it into Dreamweaver. It was also helpful because I could brainstorm an idea and if I didn't like it I could erase and start over.

After reading below to see where you should be on your product website - are you caught up? What helps you stay caught up in class? Do you like having small checkpoints? Are you behind? If so, what are you going to do to get caught up?

I am right on track! I have done everything on the checklist and I am ready to move on. To stay caught up I just use my time wisely and not get distracted by visiting other websites or playing on my phone. I will not be here Wednesday so to make sure I don't get behind, I'm going to come in for TCB when we get back.

What idea do you have that is going to make you product website different, unique or unlike anyone else? If you're answer is you don't know - it's time to start THINKING. Explain your idea.

To make my website unique, I am going to add small details to make my website look professional. The small details will add a personal touch to make it my own. I'm still thinking of other ways to make it unique, but I think this website will turn out great!

What are three things you learned about color theory and web design yesterday? Go in to detail.

I learned a lot of interesting things yesterday! One, about the different color schemes on the color wheel like triad, tetrad, and analogus. Two, I learned about red-green color blindness and how it is the most common case of color blindness. Lastly, I learned how to pair colors when choosing from the color wheel.

What effect can a color scheme have on a website? How can it make a website better? How can it make a website worse? Explain why color is important.

It is very important to have a color scheme on a website because it will draw the viewer in. If you have a really poor color scheme choice, the viewer will become uninterested in your website. It can make the website better because it makes it more interesting to look at, or it can make it worse by making the it unattractive. Color is so important to make your website fun and interesting.

What did you learn about file types as you created and designed your travel website? What are some other kinds of file types you know of? What do these different files do? Explain.

I learned that you must save different file types because they save as different things. An example is the .psd and .png files: .psd is a file that can be edited and .png is a static image. Some other file types I know of are .jpg, .psd, .png, and .html. These files save your information in different ways so it can fit the software you are using.

What was your takeaway from this Travel Site? What did you learn that you didn't know before? How will the knowledge of how we built this site help you improve your future websites?

I learned how to use Photoshop because I didn't know how to use it at all before this website. This new knowledge will help me make my future websites that much better. I've learned new skills to spice up my website and make it more interesting to look at.

How can Photoshop be a valuable tool in web design? Explain.

Photoshop is very valuable because it allows you to edit photos and make them more interesting to look at. Photoshop allows you to put filters, add text, and so much more to make your website look so much better. Because of these cool features, it makes your website more advanced!

What do you know about Photoshop? Have you used it before? What can it do? Are you an expert? A newbie? Tell me about your background and what you already know.

I probably know close to nothing about Photoshop. I am definitely a newbie with just basic knowledge. I have never used it before but I know you can edit pictures but cropping them, adding effects, etc.

Think about how a user (me or anyone else using your site) might function and interact with your site. What are some important functional features to make your website easy to work with? How can you make it easier for the user and not frustrating? Explain why this is so important.

My site is very easy to work with because it's organized. An important feature is my navigation bar because it organizes my content and is easy to access for the viewer. You can make it easier for the user by using appropriate font color and size, organizing content into a navigation bar, and making sure you link everything up correctly. All of this is very important because if the reader can't interact with your site, then the site is useless.

Tell me about your Sweetheart weekend. If you didn't go to Sweetheart, what did you do? I want details!

This weekend I didn't go to sweetheart, but I did hang out with my friend Amber. On Saturday I had just gotten my new pointe shoes, so that night she came over to hang out while I broke them in. We made huge sundaes with oreos, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and strawberries. Then, we went over to Amber's house, watched Ghost Whisperer, and went to sleep. I wasn't very exciting, but I was glad I wasn't the only one who didn't go to sweetheart.

Tell me about your All About Me site. What are going to be your 4 main content pages? Why did you choose those topics? What big plans do you have for your site that is going to make it different and creative?

My all about me site is going to have four main content pages: family, friends, childhood, and sports. I chose these because those are the main aspects in my life. If someone were to read my page they would get to know me so well. I hope to use an effective color scheme and make things neat and organized. I am going to make my font readable and my descriptions short and sweet.

What are your thoughts on HTML code? Did you enjoy the coding activity? Do you feel like you learned anything? Explain yourself.

I think HTML code is kind of confusing. I know that I just have to get the hang of it and then it will come easy to me. The coding activity was very useful and I like the step-by-step instructions. I learned a lot and I can't wait to code more!

Tell me about your three day weekend. How was it? What did you do? Elaborate!

My three day weekend was very relaxed. After school on Friday, I hung out with my friend Sofia.  On Saturday I went to ballet from 11-2:30, then I hung out with my friend Amber.

On Sunday, I went to church at 10:45! I volunteer in the early childhood wing so that means I get to teach 3-year-old's Sunday school class. Sunday night, my cousin Joey drove from Jacksonville because she's going to be living with us for a couple of months.

On Monday, my sister and I were the only ones home, so we had a lazy day in our pajamas. Amber came over because she had to finish a project on my computer, so we hung out for a while. That night, I went to dance and had lyrical production and leaps and turns.

Tell me if you agree with this statement and then explain why or why not. "Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted it, I should be able to use it."

I disagree with this statement. I don't think it's "free game" because if you use it, you should still give credit to the person who posted it. The person who posted it might not want anyone using the same image, even if they site it. If you do use an image from the internet, site it because that could get you into a lot of trouble.

What do you know about plagiarism? What do you know about plagiarism on the internet? Do web design, the internet and plagiarism all effect each other? Explain.

Plagiarism is when you take someone else's ideas or design and use them as your own without giving the original author credit. I also know that plagiarism is illegal and can have serious punishments. Plagiarism on the internet could be copying a sentence from somewhere and using it as your own, using a picture without siting your source, or even a layout and design of another website.

I think web design, the internet, and plagiarism all effect each other because if we all had the same information and never any diversity, then the internet would be a very boring place.

What do you already know about web design? How it works? Programs you can use? Tools that exist? Anything.

I do not know much about web design, but I know some things involved. Some of those things include HTML codes, designing, and posting. I vaguely know how to use Blogger.com, but I'm new to this website designing. I have never had a website before, but I am excited to be learning all about designing it!
